NOAH JACOBS, CORUNNA CROSS COUNTRY: Jacobs added to what has been a strong start to his senior season by finishing as the individual champ at the Spartan Elite race at the MSU Spartan Invitational on Friday. Jacobs had a season-best time of 15:13 to win the race, finishing 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Mitchell Day of Alpena. His performance helped the Cavaliers finish sixth as a team. Jacobs has been the individual champ at all three races he has competed in this fall.
BRITTANY MATSUMOTO, BATH VOLLEYBALL: The senior setter helped the Bees capture the title at the Beal City Invitational on Saturday. Matsumoto had 117 assists – 9.75 per set – and eight aces and 33 digs during the invitational for Bath, which defeated McBain for the championship. The Bees scored 50 points off Matsumoto’s serves while improving to 20-3 this fall.
ABIGAIL MEDER, LANSING CATHOLIC GOLF: The senior earned medalist honors at the Dick Sporting Goods Invite with a score of 78. Meder helped the Cougars win the small school division team title with a score of 393, which was eight strokes ahead of runner-up Durand.
ANTONIO RUSH, GRAND LEDGE FOOTBALL: The senior running back played a big role in the Comets registering their third straight win and remaining tied for the CAAC Blue lead on Friday. He rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-21 victory over Okemos. Rush has eight rushing touchdowns this fall and has surpassed 100 yards on the ground in each of Grand Ledge’s last three games.
