Don’t blink, we are entering the official mid-point of the high school football regular season.

And much of the excitement in store for Week 5 centers around the CAAC Blue.

Rivals Holt (2-2, 2-0) and Grand Ledge (3-1, 2-0) are the lone teams with perfect records in Blue play and face key tests in their quests to win conference titles this week.

Holt, fresh off earning a big victory over Everett, has won two straight ahead of a key home matchup against East Lansing on Friday. Defending league champion Grand Ledge, which posted a road victory at Okemos on Friday, heads to Jackson in a contest featuring the only CAAC Blue teams that made the state playoffs last fall.

East Lansing, Jackson, Sexton and Everett each are 1-1 in the CAAC Blue and will have a chance to make noise in the league over the final five weeks of the season.

The other big matchup in the Lansing area is in the GLAC and features Stockbridge (3-1, 2-0) and Lakewood (4-0, 2-0) meeting in a battle for first place. Stockbridge, which had 70 points in Friday’s win over Leslie and Lakewood enter Friday in a three-way tie atop the GLAC with Olivet. Lakewood is the defending league champion and has won nine straight GLAC contests dating back to 2014.

Corunna, Ithaca, Portland, Pewamo-Westphalia, Laingsburg, Lakewood and Portland St. Patrick are the only remaining perfect teams in the Lansing area and enter Week 5 two wins away from automatically qualifying for the playoffs.
