It’s the Week 6 Kentucky HS football preview with the C-J’s Jason Frakes and Chris White looking at this week’s monster games in the Louisville area.


* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Storyline: Mustangs look to continue best start in 27 years.

* Moore: The Mustangs ripped Iroquois 42-6 last week and are 4-1 for the first time since starting the 1989 season with a 5-1 record. Against Iroquois, freshman quarterback Rae Von Vaden completed 16 of 24 passes for 230 yards and four touchdowns. Senior receiver Russell Vaden, Rae Von’s brother, had five catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Rae Von Vaden has passed for 985 yards and 11 TDs this year.

* Thomas Nelson: The Generals, who began playing football in 2013, are 3-1 for the first time after beating Washington County 27-22 on Sept. 9. They were off last week. Thomas Nelson employs a run-first offense led by junior Tyler Wimpsett (33 carries, 353 yards, five touchdowns). Wimpsett also ranks third on the team with 22 tackles (15 solo).
