Melbourne Central Catholic hosted John Carroll on Friday night,

In the first five games of the season, the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers high-powered offense has scored over 200 points more than their opponents, while holding their opponents to 8 points per game. On Friday evening, the Hustlers used these tune-up games to clinch the Class 3A, District 6 championship by defeating the John Carroll Rams 52-7.

Early in the game the Hustlers quickly took advantage of outstanding field position as the Rams attempted and failed to convert on five consecutive fourth downs. Each of these attempts resulted in giving MCC possession deep in Ram territory. And following each of the failed fourth down attempts, the Hustler offense quickly took advantage by scoring four consecutive passing touchdowns as QB Joaquin Collazo connected with Bryce Fielding, Levi Wilson, Lavonte Valentine and Lorenzo Hardy. MCC’s outstanding kicker Will McKegg contributed a 45-yard field goal and four extra points, which resulted in a 31-0 MCC lead at halftime.

While the Hustlers’ quick strike offense seemed to score at will, their defense recorded four sacks and intercepted three passes. Hustler DB Zamari Walton scored on a pick six from 34 yards ending the Ram’s hope of making a comeback.
