WAYNESBORO – Wilson Memorial got its season underway Thursday in impressive fashion, rolling past Waynesboro 64-30 in nonconference girls basketball action at Waynesboro High School.
The Green Hornets (1-0) bolted out to a 26-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Sophomore guard Scottie Hull scored six of her team-high 13 points in the quarter.
Sarah Sondrol also had six in the first, finishing with 12 to go with eight rebounds. Sam Kershner had nine points and five offensive rebounds, Cheridan Hatfield had five assists and Emma Harrison had seven rebounds.
The Little Giants’ Sydney Sutton led all scorers with 18 points.
Wilson is back in action from in the first game of a home-opening doubleheader with the boys team. The girls host Loudoun County at 6:15 p.m., while the boys face Waynesboro at 8:30 p.m.
