The Battle Creek Enquirer put out the question:

Who was the Football Player of the Week of Week 7 of the high school season?

Lakeview’s Jay’Vion Settles

After nearly 17,000 votes in the Enquirer website poll, the answer is Lakeview’s Jay’Vion Settles.

Settles finished first in the poll with 7,419 votes.

Finishing a close second was St. Philip’s Drew Lantinga with 6,420 votes.

Connor Covert of Coldwater was third.

The  Spartans’ Settles had a near-school record of 258 yards on just 16 carries to go along with four touchdowns as the Spartans defeated Loy Norrix, 44-6.

The winner of the Battle Creek Enquirer Football Player of the Week each week will receive a ‘Player of the Week’ t-shirt.

Each week throughout the fall, the Enquirer will also accept nominations for Athlete of the Week. The criteria for the honor is that it must be a Battle Creek area high school varsity athlete who participates in volleyball, swimming and diving, tennis, soccer, golf or cross country.
