These are weekly azcentral sports high school baseball honors for the 2017 season.

April 17-22

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week: Toren Craig, Queen Creek, INF, Sr.

He went 4 for 4 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored in a 12-2 win over Casa Grande Vista Grande.

Pitcher of the Week: Matthew Liberatore, Glendale Mountain Ridge, Jr.

In a 4-1 win over Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor, the big left-hander gave up three hits and struck out 12, walking four in 6 1/3 innings.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week: Mateo Hackman, Tucson Empire, OF, Sr.

He had six hits, two home runs and seven RBIs in three 3A Conference wins.

Pitcher of the Week: Tristan Baldonado, Holbrook, Sr.

He threw 6 1/3 innings in a 3-2 win over 3A Snowflake, striking out 13, walking one and giving up one earned run.

April 10-15

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Gianni Tomasi, Scottsdale Chaparral, OF, Sr.

He had four hits and four RBIs in two wins last week, improving his batting average to .424.

Pitcher of the Week

Cole Bellinger, Chandler Hamilton, Sr.

Out much of the season with an injury, he pitched five strong innings, giving up two hits and striking out 12, in a 5-2 win at Brophy Prep. It was only his third pitching appearance and his longest stint.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Joey Martinez, Glendale Joy Christian, C, Sr.

Went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double and five RBIs in a 20-3 2A rout of Phoenix Veritas. He increased his season RBI total to 49.

Pitcher of the Week

Gabe Ornelas, Safford, Sr.

Went the full seven innings in a 5-1 win over Morenci, striking out 12 and giving up three hits and walking one.

Sandra Day O'Connor third baseman Nolan Gorman is the Hitter of the Week after launching two home runs, including a grand slam, in a win over Pinnacle.

April 3-9

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Nolan Gorman, Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor, 3B, Jr.

Gorman drove in six runs with two home runs, including a grand slam, handing Phoenix Pinnacle its only blowout loss of the season, 13-4. He leads the state with nine home runs.

Pitcher of the Week

Boyd Vander Kooi, Mesa Skyline, Sr.

He pitched a four-hit shutout, striking out 10, in a 7-0 win over Mesa.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Israel Loveall, Bagdad, C, Jr.

He went 2 for 3 with two RBIs in a 12-4 win over 2A Pima, and finished the week with a double and two RBIs in a 6-3 win over Surprise Odyssey Institute.

Pitcher of the Week

Tristan Baldonado, Holbrook, Sr.

He pitched a no-hitter against rival Winslow, a five-inning, 10-0 win. He struck out nine and walked two.

March 27-April 1

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Jesus Aldaz, Phoenix Alhambra, 3B, Sr.

Monster week with an eight-RBI, 5-for-5 performance in a 16-2 rout of Sherwood. He hit for the cycle in that game with a single, two doubles, a triple and a home run. He had 19 RBIs in six games and raised his batting average to .507.

Pitcher of the Week

Seth Sas, Chandler Hamilton, Sr.

In a 3-0 win over Arlington (Tenn.) during a national tournament in North Carolina, Sas went six innings, scattering six hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Joey Martinez, Glendale Joy Christian, C, Sr.

In a 13-0 win over Seaside (Ore.), he went 4 for 4 with a triple, a home run and five RBIs. He went 2 for 3 with three RBIs in an 11-2 win over Ketchikan (Alaska).

Pitcher of the Week

Mathew Olsen, Florence, Jr.

The right-hander gave up just two hits and struck out 17 in 6 2/3 innings in a 5-1 win over Queen Creek Benjamin Franklin.

March 20-25

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Jesus Pulido, San Luis, INF, Sr.

He raised his average to .578 after going 4 for 5 against both Glendale Copper Canyon (20-0) and Phoenix Alhambra (14-3) in wins. He also had six RBIs and four doubles in the two games.

Pitcher of the Week

Joey Zubia, Phoenix St. Mary’s, Jr.

On Friday, Zubia threw a no-hitter, seven-inning, 2-0 win against Gilbert Higley. He struck out 14 batters. It was only the second time he pitched this season. He is the team’s starting catcher.

Hitter of the Week

Nico Drogaris, Buckeye Odyssey Institute, C, Sr.

He went 6 for 6 in wins over Surprise Paradise Honors and Kingman.

Pitcher of the Week

Gabe Ornelas, Safford, Sr.

He pitched his second consecutive no-hitter in a 10-0 win over Coolidge, striking out 15 and walking two in the six-inning game.

March 13-18

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Jake Holmes, Phoenix Pinnacle, SS, Sr.

This Arizona State signee was awarded Offensive Player of the Between The Lines national tournament at Phoenix Horizon. In the 3-2 championship win over Stillwater, Okla., Holmes had three hits and scored the winning run from second on a base hit in the seventh inning. He  went 9 for 14 with two home runs in the tournament.

Pinnacle senior shortstop Jake Holmes is the Hitter of the Week after leading top-ranked team to tournament title at Horizon.

Pitcher of the Week

Colin King, Horizon, Sr.

He tossed a four-hitter in a win against Cherokee Trail, which returned key players from last year’s Colorado state championship team. King struck out nine, walked one and gave up just two earned runs.

Hitter of the Week

Daniel Vizcaya, Winslow, INF, Jr.

In 3A wins over Fort Defiance Window Rock and Chinle, he had a total of five hits, seven runs scored, six RBIs , two doubles and a triple, as team improved to 6-2-1.

Pitcher of the Week

Israel Loveall, Bagdad, Jr.

In a 3-2 win over 3A Chino Valley, the 1A pitcher scattered six hits in seven innings, giving up one earned run, walking none and striking out six.

March 6-11

Hitter of the Week

Nolan Gorman, Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor, 3B, Jr.

Sandra Day O'Connor junior Nolan Gorman hit four home runs in three games to be the Hitter of the Week.

Sandra Day O’Connor junior Nolan Gorman hit four home runs in three games to be the Hitter of the Week.

He hit four home runs in three games, three of those in a split against Anthem Boulder Creek, two in a 7-1 win. He also had five RBIs in the win. He had seven RBIs on the week, and  raised his batting average to .350. Gorman leads the state with six home runs.

Pitcher of the Week

Fernando Leal, Glendale Apollo, Jr.

He improved to 4-0, tossing a complete-game, four-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over Glendale Independence. He struck out six and walked none, throwing a total of 75 pitches.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Obed Cordova, Bisbee, 3B, Sr.

He went 3 for 3 with three doubles and five RBIs in a 14-9 win over Tombstone. In four games, he had eight hits, a home run, four doubles and nine RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week

Kameron Quinto, Scottsdale Christian, Sr.

In a 16-3 rout of Fountain Hills, Quinto gave up three hits and one earned run and struck out 10 and walked none.

Feb. 27-March 4

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Kody Huff, Phoenix Horizon, C, So.

During a 3-0 run for the top-ranked team in the state, Huff went 8 for 13 with two doubles, a home run, two RBIs and six runs scored from the leadoff spot.

Pitcher of the Week

Maverick Williams, Anthem Boulder Creek, Sr.

He pitched a no-hitter against Chandler Basha, a five-inning, 10-0 victory shortened by the run rule. He faced the minimum of 15 batters over five innings. He walked a batter in the first inning, but he was picked off at first base to end the inning.

Hitter of the Week

Bryce Andrashie, Fountain Hills, SS, Sr.

Coming off leading his basketball team to the state championship, Andrashie hit .750 (9 for 12) with six runs, six RBIs, a double and two triples in four games during the weekend.

Pitcher of the Week

Rhett Ricedorff, Show Low, Sr.

In a 2-1 win over San Manuel, Ricedorff threw five innings of one-hit ball, striking out four, walking one and giving up no earned runs.

Feb. 20-25

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Sasha Sneider, Phoenix Thunderbird, P/INF, Jr.

In a season-opening 5-1 win over Phoenix Arcadia, Sneider had a single, triple and the walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Pitcher of the Week

Jacob Hanna, Mesa, So.

In his first start, he pitched a perfect game in a 4-0 win over Yuma Gila Ridge, going the full seven innings, facing the minimum 21 batters, striking out five and throwing just 67 pitches.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Gregory Boyce, Phoenix Christian, OF, Sr.

During a 3-1 start in 2A, Boyce went 9 for 13 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week

Esai Vegenas, Morenci, Sr.

In a 4-1 win over Tombstone, Vegenas did not give up an earned run, giving up five hits, walking one and striking out 13.
