May 1-6

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week: Tia Craig, Phoenix Desert Vista, OF, Sr.

In a 17-4 6A playoff win over Yuma Cibola that kept the Thunder’s season alive, Craig, the leadoff batter, went 4 for 4 with three runs scored and four RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week: Abby Andersen, Chandler Hamilton, Jr.

She picked up wins over Horizon and Tucson, not giving up a run in 11 innings. She struck out 10 and gave up three hits in a 7-0 win over Tucson in the 6A playoffs.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week: Anabel Ramirez, Tucson Empire, INF, Jr.

She went 3 for 3 with three RBIs in a 7-5 3A semifinals win over Mohave Valley River Valley.

Pitcher of the Week: Katie Sherman, Benson, So.

She gave up five hits, struck out nine and walked none in a 2-0 2A Conference semifinal win over San Manuel.

For April 24-29

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week: Taylor Gindlesperger, Chandler Hamilton, OF, Jr.

She went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs in a 12-2 6A state tournament victory over Tucson Sunnyside. Early in the week, she went 2 for 3 with two runs scored in an 11-0 win over Chandler Basha.

Pitcher of the Week: Morgan Leinstock, Phoenix Horizon, So.

The team had only 10 wins entering the state playoffs, but Leinstock baffled No.2-seed Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor’s batters in an 8-0 6A Conference first-round shocker. She gave up just three hits, walked one and struck out seven, going the distance.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week: Samantha Anderson, Surprise Paradise Honors, C, Sr.

She had six hits and seven RBIs in three games, including two triples and three RBIs in an 11-6 win over Chandler Prep in a 2A game.

Pitcher of the Week: Sabyn Martinez, Morenci, Sr.

In a 4-0 2A win over Scottsdale Christian, she gave up two hits and struck out 12, picking up her 59th career varsity victory.

April 17-22

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week: Taylor Gindlesperger, Chandler Hamilton, OF, Jr.

In an 11-0 win over Phoenix Xavier Prep, she went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a home run. She has driven in 11 runs during a seven-game winning streak in which Hamilton has outscored  its opponents 90-0.

Pitcher of the Week: Mikayla Gilgert, Apache Junction, Jr.

She picked up three more wins, giving her 20 for the season, striking out 25 and giving up eight hits and two earned runs in 15 innings of work.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week: Rachel Hammons, Phoenix Bouragde, OF, Jr.

She had nine hits, including a 5 for 5 day against Scottsdale Prep, and finished with 12 runs scored and nine stolen bases during a 3-0 week.

Pitcher of the Week: Sabyn Martinez, Morenci, Sr.

She picked up her 22nd win in a 7-3 victory over Eagar Round Valley, striking out 10 and walking one and giving up three hits and one earned run in seven innings.

April 10-15

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Kamryn Moctezuma, Yuma Cibola, 2B, Jr.

In a 12-2 win over Yuma Kofa, she went 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, helping Raiders improve to 28-0.

Pitcher  of the Week

Abby Andersen, Hamilton, Jr.

Pitched a total of six innings in two games against Chandler, giving up a total of two hits and striking out eight and walking none.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Emma Garbutt, Tucson Empire, C/1B, Jr.

She went 6 for 8 with three doubles, a triple and a home run with seven RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week

Kristin Cocke, Safford, So.

Following a 5-2, 11-inning loss in which she struck out 18, she pitched her fourth no-hitter, a five-inning, 10-0 win over Globe to give her 22 wins on the year.

April 3-9

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Megan Clark, Poston Butte, SS, Sr.

Clark went 8 for 11 in four games. She scored six runs, while hitting a double, a triple and two home runs, to go with five RBIs.

Maggie Thurston of Chaparral is the Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 with no earned runs allowed.

Maggie Thurston, Scottsdale Chaparral, Jr.

Thurston was 3-0, including a one-hitter against Gilbert Williams Field. She pitched 14 innings, striking out 25 and allowing no earned runs and a total of five hits.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Solymar Navarro, Sahuarita, Fr.

Navarro had six hits and six RBIs, leading team to 3-0 week, all shutouts.

Pitcher of the Week

Regan Glenn, Mohave Valley River Valley, Sr.

Glenn went 2-0 on the week, giving up a total of four hits and no earned runs with 21 strikeouts, 14 against Kingman Academy.

March 27-April 1

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Kamryn Moctezuma, Yuma Cibola, 2B, Sr.

She lifted her batting average to .545 with 32 RBI after going 10 for 15 with nine RBIs. She went 2 for 2 with two RBIs in a 7-6 win over Phoenix Desert Vista, the team’s biggest win in its 24-0 record.

Pitcher of the Week

Marissa Schuld, Phoenix Pinnacle, Jr.

She improved to 14-0 with wins over  Phoenix Mountain Pointe and Scottsdale Desert Mountain. She tossed a five-inning, no-hitter against Mountain Pointe and gave up two hits and struck out 14 in five innings against Desert Mountain.

Hitter of the Week

Reyna Caudillo, Phoenix North Pointe Prep, SS, So.

She went 8 for 12 in three games. She also had five runs scored, six RBIs and three doubles as the 3A team went 2-1.

Pitcher of the Week

K Cocke, Safford, So.

She ran her record to 17-3 with 263 strikeouts in 120 innings with three wins. She pitched her third no-hitter in 10 days in a 2-0 win over Queen Creek American Leadership. She struck out 19 in seven innings.

March 20-25

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Stacia Seeton, Mesa Westwood, Sr.

In a 3-0 week, Seeton had seven hits, including a 4 for 4 performance against Phoenix Central. She had two home runs and seven RBIs in that game, raising her HR total to 13 on the season and RBIs to 41.

Pitcher of the Week

Marissa Schuld, Phoenix Pinnacle, Jr.

She gave up just three hits and no earned runs in 11 1/3 innings of work over three games. She beat previously unbeaten Desert Ridge 12-0, allowing just two hits and striking out nine in five innings.

In a 26-0 rout of Tombstone, she went 5 for 5 with three doubles and seven RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week

Kristin Cocke, Safford, Jr

She pitched two no-hitters — both against Coolidge — and had three total wins on the week. She also reached a state-best 216 strikeouts on the season.

March 13-18

Hitter of the Week

Carrigan Foster, Surprise Willow Canyon, P, So.

In a 14-1, five-inning 5A Conference win over Glendale Ironwood, Foster became the first player in school history to hit two grand slams in a game.

Pitcher of the Week

Madison Seigworth, Chandler Hamilton, Jr.

In a 1-0 win over top-ranked Phoenix Pinnacle, she struck out 10 and gave up just four hits.  She walked two. It was her fifth win of the season. She has struck out 73 in 46 innings. She went 3-0 on the week. She also struck out 13 and gave up two hits in an 8-1 win over Phoenix Horizon.

Hitter of the Week

Cori Jackson, Benson, 1B, Sr.

She homered in three consecutive games and had 14 RBIs in seven games, helping the team go 6-1.

Pitcher of the Week

Kristin Cocke, Safford, So.

In a 4-1 win over Winslow, she struck out 17 and gave up three hits. She won five games in the Payson tournament, and had 18 strikeouts in a 9-4 win over Phoenix Sunnyslope.

March 6-11

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Alynah Torres, Glendale Cactus, INF, So.

Cactus sophomore Alynah Torres had three home runs and 10 RBIs in TOC in Bullhead City.

The Arizona State commit hit .632  (12 for 19) in the Tournament of Champions in Bullhead City. She had three home runs and 10 RBIs in six games.

Pitcher of the Week

Madison Sierra, Yuma Cibola, Sr.

Went 4-0, raising her record to 10-0. She gave up a total of three earned runs. She capped the week with a 5-0 win over Buckeye Verrado, striking out 11, walking one and giving up two hits in a complete game.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Audrey LeClair, Phoenix County Day, INF, So.

She went 7 for 8 in 13 plate appearances. She hit for the cycle in one game. She had three doubles, a triple and two home runs with 13 RBIs, five walks and 11 stolen bases on the week.

Pitcher of the Week

Sabyn Martinez, Morenci, Sr.

She was 6-1 with 43 strikeouts, leading 2A team to the Apollo Cool Nites silver bracket championship.

Hitter of the Week

Ellessa Bonstrom, Oro Valley Canyon del Oro, OF, Jr.

In a 14-7 win over Tucson Sahuaro, she went 3 for 4 with five RBIs and a triple and a home run with two  runs scored. She also had two hits in a 10-0 win over Phoenix Greenway, adding another home run.

Pitcher of the Week

Marissa Schuld, Phoenix Pinnacle, Jr.

She pitched a three-hit, six-inning shutout of Phoenix Xavier in a 10-0 victory, striking out 12. In a 9-4 win over Chandler Hamilton, she struck out eight in 4 2/3 innings, giving up three hits and not allowing a run.

Hitter of the Week

Tyler Gill, Eloy Santa Cruz, INF, Sr.

She went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in a 9-3 win over Casa Grande, followed by three hits in three plate appearances and five RBIs and two home runs in an 11-1 win over Phoenix Moon Valley.

Pitcher of the Week

Reyna Caudillo, Phoenix North Pointe Prep, So.

She pitched a no-hitter, striking out 15, in a 12-0 win over Phoenix Veritas Prep. She did not walk a batter and faced 19 batters in six innings.

Through Feb. 21-25

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Shaylee Ackerman, Mesa Desert Ridge, OF, So.

Leading the Jaguars to a 6-0 week, she went 12 for 18 with five home runs, three doubles and 19 RBIs. She knocked in 10 runs in her last two games, wins over Tempe Corona del Sol and Gilbert Perry.

Pitcher of the Week

Lexy Coons, Tucson Sahuaro, Sr.

She went 4-0 with a 0.90 earned-run average, striking out 43 batters in 31 innings. She now has 41 career varsity wins.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Jessica Lozania, Sahuarita, Utility, Sr.

During a 5-3 week, Lozania went 18 for 24 at the plate with six doubles and 14 RBIs. She had back-to-back five-RBI games.

Pitcher of the Week

Regan Glenn, Mohave Valley River Valley, Sr.

She pitched River Valley to five-inning 12-0 and 20-0 wins over Bullhead City Mohave and Parker to start the season. She struck out 19 and the teams combined for a .032 batting average against her.
