Lawrence North Wildcats coach Jack Keefer calls a play to his players in the first half of their game Nov. 29, 2016, at Park Tudor High School.

The Lawrence North boys basketball team will be without veteran coach Jack Keefer and four of its key players for tonight’s game at Ben Davis.

Lawrence North athletic director Mike Penrose would only confirm that any players not dressed for the game would be due to “a violation of team rules.”

Assistant coach Kyle Green will fin in for Keefer.

“I can’t say much,” Penrose said. “I can’t comment on any personnel issues.”

Another source close to the situation said Keefer is expected to return to the sideline for Saturday’s home game against Hamilton Heights. The players are expected to miss two games.

Lawrence North traveled to Grand Rapids (Mich.) last Saturday, losing 51-39. The Wildcats are 12-6 going into tonight’s game against Ben Davis.

Keefer is one of the state’s all-time winningest coaches with 755 career wins in 45 seasons overall.
