Let’s give credit where credit is due: catchers are awesome! Sure, the position is often overlooked in favor of the pitcher’s effort, but really, catchers are the eyes and ears—the commanders behind the plate—of a baseball team. And let’s not forget the words of the great baseball philosopher Casey Stengel, who said, “You have to have a catcher, otherwise you will have a lot of passed balls.”
Ain’t that the truth?!
Of course, one could take Casey’s profound realism (and thanks for keeping it real, coach) and argue that without proper blocking technique and conditioning, a baseball team is really no better off with a catcher either. Luckily, YSPN360.com has six-time All-Star Sandy Alomar Jr. to give you an exclusive look at conditioning drills and techniques that will make passed balls a thing of the…well, past.
