5 songs for your next workout

Whether you’ve got an intense workout in the weight room or a big game later this week, get your mind right with motivating tunes to keep you going.

We caught up with Bellevue (Bellevue, Wash.) wide receiver Reuben Mwehla to get the scoop about what music gets him in the zone and ready to sweat. Check out these five jams filling up his playlist.

“Itching” — Future
Future is basically talking about how his fingers are itching for some money. When I hear it, I think about getting money — not literally, but on the field, as in I’m itching to do good.

“Hard In da Paint”—Waka Flocka Flame
It’s a pretty fast pace. I interpret the song as you’re not messing with my team — I’m coming to you.

“Work” (feat. Rick Ross) —Meek Mill
The tempo is a little bit slower. Meek Mill talks about going overtime on people. This is like playing a fifth quarter of a game. I’m going to outwork you, basically.

“Hustle Hard”—Ace Hood
The title says everything — it’s about hustling for what you want. Nothing comes easy. Ace Hood is telling a story that he needs to provide for his family. I read the message as providing for my team.

“Gangsta Hop”—Waka Flocka Flame
The tempo is fast-paced. When this song comes on, I visualize what I’m going to do [on the field]. I think about making tackles and no one getting past me. I’m a step ahead of my opponent.
