On 2012 season?
“We really, really believed we could do it this year. We knew we could. I think it made us want it more because we knew we had a shot.”
On setting team record for wins?
“It was awesome. We beat the school record (41) for wins this year (finishing 51-7) and that was a goal we had. I couldn’t have asked for a better year. This group of girls were awesome, we didn’t fight. We were really close this year. It was a wide age range but we were close and that doesn’t usually happen.”
On turning down scholarship offers to attend West Florida?
“I’m taking a break. I’m not going to play any sports. At one time (I considered a volleyball scholarship to West Florida), but I just decided I wanted a break. After the year we’ve had, I can’t imagine anything better. I’m sure I’ll get bored, but it’ll be nice to have a break.”
Working with all-state pitcher Bailey Singleton?
“Bailey is a really good pitcher and she’s still young, so she’s going to get better. She’s going to help them a lot (in the future).”
What the experts say …
“She was our mother hen. She made sure everybody was on the same page. She’s not a leader by rah-rah, she’s just steady. It’s the same when she gets up there (at the plate) every time. There wasn’t a lot of drama with her off the field, she got along with everybody. And she played with girls that weren’t that way in the past and I think she learned from that experience.” – Glynn Lott, Macon-East coach
