Lincoln sweeps Spartans

CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. – Mackenzie McClain had 17 digs and eight kills Thursday as Lincoln swept Connersville 25-15, 25-15, 25-23.

Lindsey Weston added 11 digs and five kills for the Golden Eagles.

Knights rally for win

FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Kerri Kircher had 13 kills, Kristian Ketron 12 and Cierra Guenther 10 as Northeastern rallied to beat Shenandoah 23-25, 20-25, 25-5, 25-16, 15-9 on Thursday.

“It was a fun night,” coach Jerry Middleton said by phone. “We buckled down in games three, four and five and played extremely well. Games one and two, we didn’t serve the ball and that’s the difference.”

Ashley Reece had seven digs, while Sarah Scotten had eight aces and 28 assists.

Kircher, Ketron, Guenther, Scotten and Reece were honored for senior night.

The Knights (24-8) play the winner of the Hagerstown-Lincoln game Oct. 20 at the Eastern Hancock sectional.

Junior high volleyball

‘Dogs split with Knights

Centerville and Northeastern split in volleyball on Thursday, with the Bulldogs winning the seventh-grade match 25-11, 25-17 and the Knights taking the eighth-grade contest 15-25, 25-24, 15-12.

Megan Stelle had six assists, Madi Rosenberger 10 aces and Savana Kates an ace for Centerville’s seventh grade.

Junior high cross country

Monroe Central boys, Driver girls win county races

Monroe Central won the boys race and Driver the girls race during Thursday’s Randolph County cross country meets.

Union’s Mallory Green was first individually in the girls race, while Monroe Central’s Isaac Smithson won the boys race.

Junior high volleyball

Hagerstown downs UC

Hagerstown defeated Union County 25-8, 25-21 in eighth-grade volleyball action on Wednesday, while the seventh-grade Tigers also won 25-17, 25-18.

Chloe Beaty had 13 points and 11 passes for the Tiger seventh-graders, while Taylor Kelley added nine points and 17 passes.

Seton downs Centerville

CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Seton Catholic’s eighth-grade volleyball team defeated Centerville 25-21, 15-25, 15-11 on Wednesday.

Erin Barrett had 13 kills to pace the Cardinals, while Kelsey Martin added 10 assists and three aces and Hailey Spaeth had five digs.

Test downs Dennis

Test eighth-grade volleyball defeated Dennis 25-19, 18-25, 15-12 on Wednesday.

Paityn Farris led Dennis with four kills and seven digs, while Molly Daniels contributed seven aces and Tatum Jordan had six assists.
