WAYZATA – St. John’s finished fifth out of 17 teams at the Twin Cities Classic Monday afternoon with a team score of 894.

Gustavus won the three-day meet with an 870. St. John’s Blue tied with Luther of Iowa for eighth (918). Since second-place Manitoba isn’t an NCAA school, St. John’s finished fourth in the eyes of the Division III and Golfstat.

Junior Casey Vangsness led SJU with a fifth-place finish out of 90 golfers with a three-day round of 217 (1-over par). Sophomore Drew Lynch shot under par Monday (69) to tie for ninth overall with a 220 for the Johnnies.

LP-GE/U-SA 4, SAUK CENTRE 3

SAUK CENTRE – The match came down to No. 1 singles where the Thunder’s Lexi Larson earned a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 win over the Mainstreeters’ Mariah Rieland.

All of Sauk Centre’s losses came in three sets. The Mainstreeters’ Bethany Ellis won at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-3) and Kathryn Macey won at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-3). Sauk Centre’s other win came at No. 1 doubles where Callie Rodenbiker and Jessica Rodenbiker eanred a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Sauk Centre fell to 14-5 on the season.

ELK RIVER 4, ST. CLOUD TECH 3

Alyssa Keravich’s win at No. 3 singles over Tech’s Leah Wurm decided the match, which handed the Tigers their second loss at South Junior High this fall.

Keravich won 7-5, 6-3, 7-6. Tech (13-2) picked up wins from Lexie Portz and Jill Kedrowski at No. 1 doubles 2-6, 6-0, 6-3, and by Sarah Donnelly and Kaila Burroughs at No. 3 doubles. Donnelly and Burroughs’ match was also won in three sets (5-7, 6-2, 6-2).

ANNANDALE 6, BBE 1

BELGRADE – Coming into this match, there had never been a player who won 100 matches in a career at Annandale.

Kaytlin Kuefler rewrote that Cardinal history book by attaining the milestone with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles. Kuefler defeated the Jaguars’ Eva Lamprecht 6-0, 6-0. The Cardinals’ lone loss came at No. 1 doubles.

SAUK CENTRE 3, YELLOW MEDICINE EAST 0

GRANITE FALLS – The Mainstreeters made short work of the Sting and were led by Jena Klaphake who had 30 assists and four ace serves. Ashley Kollman led SC in kills with 11. YME’s Maddie Hagert was 7-for-7 serving with four digs. SC won the match 25-12, 25-13, 25-12.

ST. CLOUD CATHEDRAL 3, HILLCREST LUTHERAN 0

FERGUS FALLS – Two Crusaders’ goals came off the foot of Alex Peterson, while Myles Hagen notched Cathedral’s other goal in a nonconference win.

Alan Flores only had to stop two shots to earn the shutout victory for Cathedral (11-0-2). Hayden Speaks assisted on two goals for the Crusaders..

ST. CLOUD CHRISTIAN 3, FAITH CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 0

Junior Ahnah Cole helped the Warriors blank Faith Christian School with 15 digs and four kills at Cathedral High School.

Toria Gilson led St. Cloud Christian with 19 digs, and Laura Knoblach had 25 assists and three ace serves. The Warriors improve to 8-2 on the season.

HOLDINGFORD 3, FOLEY 0

HOLDINGFORD – Jena Volkers was 15-for-16 serving for the Holdingford in their nonconference win.
