O.J. Guice, after an all-around performance in Brantley’s Class 1A championship victory, was a finalist for the year’s final player of the week awards.
Hoover’s Calen Campbell was the offensive player of the week after a 191-yard, three-touchdown effort in a 31-0 Class 6A win over Opelika.
Guice and UMS-Wright’s Troy Dixon were the offensive finalists.
Guice ran nine times for 115 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 31 yards and two scores in Brantley’s 33-0 win over Marion County.
Madison Academy’s Kerryon Johnson was the defense/special teams star. He intercepted two passes, returning one for a touchdown, in a 31-7 Class 3A win over Fayette County.
UMS-Wright’s Sam Pettway and Spanish Fort’s Tyler Johnston were the defense/special teams finalists.
Brantley’s Adrian Howard was among those considered.
