The Avon Eagles varsity football team will be without several team members to start the season.
Superintendent of Avon City Schools Michael Laub has confirmed there have been issues with the school’s code of conduct policy and some varsity football players.
“We have some things going on with our students; code of conduct issues and we are dealing with it,” Said Laub.
Avon begins the 2012 schedule at rival Avon Lake in week one. The Eagles host Wellington in the second week of the season.
Laub would not comment on how many Avon players will miss game action during the season.
“These are kids. I cannot confirm specific details and we must protect the students,” said Laub.
“Caring about and helping young people develop into good people is a win in itself. Hopefully they will come out on the other side better for it, ” Laub added.
Avon was the state runner-up in Division II last season.
