The Palm Desert High School wrestling team placed sixth overall out of 32 teams at the Colton Christmas Classic on Saturday.
Payton Hammer (170 pounds) and Chase Lemmermann (195) won their respective weight classes.
Matt Holm (152) and Issai Serrano (170) finished third in their classes. Chris Gross (182) placed fourth, Trevor Dalskov-King (113) finished fifth and Brenden Blanscet (285) took sixth.
PALM SPRINGS: The Indians took 18th overall in the 32-team Colton Christmas Classic.
Noah Scott (103) went 4-0 to win his weight class. Adrian Molina, also in the 103-pound division, placed third at 5-1. Lorenzo Martinez (113) and Mario Tapia (145) both went 5-1 to finish third.
Charles Valentine (160) added a sixth place finish by going 5-3 for Palm Springs, which visits Indio at 5 p.m. Thursday.
COACHELLA VALLEY: Julio Salazar (120) and Ranses Demara (160) both went 7-2 for the Arabs to finish fifth in their respective weight classes at the Downey Individuals.
Jose Zazueta (170) placed seventh at 7-2 for Coachella Valley, which visits Palm Desert at 5 p.m. Thursday.
CATHEDRAL CITY GOES 1-1: The Lions finished sixth overall as action in the Imperial tournament wrapped up Saturday.
In the fifth-place game, the Lions fell 67-63 to Central (El Centro) as Christian Wilson had a team-high 24 points. Orlando Wallace scored 14.
In their opening game Saturday, Wilson had 25 points while Alex McGrath chipped in with 14 as Cathedral City beat Bonita Vista 83-72.
Dino Gegic and Chris Grenier added 11 points for the Lions (6-2), who host Malibu on Dec. 26 in the MaxPreps Holiday Classic.
REDLANDS EAST VALLEY 68, LA QUINTA 49: Karen Orozco tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists, but the Blackhawks fell in the third-place game in the Redlands Invitational.
Hayley Nuno added 10 points and five rebounds for La Quinta (9-2), which is off to its best start in school history.
The Blackhawks open Desert Valley League play on Monday at Coachella Valley.
Eight area players earned first-team honors as the CIF Southern Section announced its all-CIF teams for both volleyball and water polo.
In water polo, La Quinta High School junior Aaron Lowell was selected as Division VI player of the year after leading the Blackhawks to their first CIF title.
Other Blackhawks honored were senior Jordan Burton and juniors Trent Rubio and Riley Becker.
Other first-team members were Palm Desert junior Grant Stein and Palm Springs senior Matt Webster.
Second-team members include Wyatt Seaman and Zach Sloan of La Quinta and Mark Zikov of Palm Desert.
John Claridge of La Quinta, Zack Rhodes and Zach Hudgens of Palm Desert and Shahriar Emami of Palm Springs made the third team.
In volleyball, Shadow Hills senior Cassie Tomerlin, the reigning De Anza League Most Valuable Player, was named to the all-CIF first team for Division IV-AA.
Junior Caitlyn Cook of Marywood Palm Valley was honored in Division V-A.
