(WLTX) — Batesburg-Leesville has a new head football coach, while Lakewood is in the market for one.
B-L has hired veteran Dr. Jerry Brown to take over the Panther program. Dr. Brown has been the athletics director at Fairfield Central High School. He has nearly 30 years of experience patrolling the sidelines with stops at Spring Valley, Irmo, Richland Northeast and Berkeley where he coached current Gamecock Bruce Ellington. Brown has four state championships to his credit.
At Lakewood High School, the Gators have a vacancy to replace Chris Collins who will be leaving the Sumter county school to take over the program at Colleton County.
Collins spent two seasons with Lakewood and led the Gators to their best season ever, a school-record eight wins and a spot in the 3A playoffs. He takes over a Colleton County program that was winless in 2011.
