He’s has never played a high school basketball game, and the scholarship offers have started.
“It’s real cool, it’s real cool,” said De’Ron Davis with a smile.
Freshman De’Ron Davis stands at nearly six feet, nine inches tall. Some recruiting sites have him as the top ranked freshman in the country and his one official offer, isn’t just any offer.
The #1 ranked Indiana Hoosiers are the team coming after Davis.
“I was pretty shocked, but I was happy. At the same time I didn’t put too much focus on it, just because I’m a freshman and I haven’t played a minute of varsity,” Davis told 9News.
Don’t expect a decision anytime soon from the big man.
“I just want to focus on high school,” he said.
In high school he has a chance to do something special with his best friend, sophomore point guard Austin Conway who also happened to pick up an offer from Indiana recently.
“It’s overwhelming. It’s a great feeling to know that hard work pay off,” Conway told 9News.
“It’d be pretty cool for me and him to go to the same college just because of the chemistry,” added Davis.
Davis and Conway may be underclassmen but they have their sights set on a state championship as early as this year.
“I don’t think youth is a problem with us. We have a ton of talent. Just have to see how it comes together,” said Conway.
