Ni Ceu provided the Battle Creek Central High boys’ soccer team with all the offense it needed as his goal helped the Bearcats post a 1-0 home victory over city rival Harper Creek on Thursday night.
Eden Maaitea had the assist on the goal, and keeper Hexxon Villa made 10 saves for BCC — which is now 7-6 overall on the campaign and 3-4 in the SMAC East.

Quincy 3, Lansing Home School 0: Ashton Diotte scored twice as the Orioles improved to 9-2-2 on the season. Evan Albright also had a goal for Quincy, and Dakota Finley made 12 saves in the nets.
Coldwater 3, (at) Sturgis 1: Mohamed Aljabaly had a goal and an assist as the visiting Cardinals ended SMAC East play with a 6-1 record and improved to 9-2 overall. Nooh Aljabaly and Saleh Mousa also scored for Coldwater, Tobias Hermann had an assist, and keeper Ian Wright made 10 saves.
St. Philip 3, (at) Jackson Christian 0: The visiting Tigers — the multi-time defending Class D state champs and currently again ranked No. 1 in Class D — improved to 28-1 overall and 4-0 in the SCAA with a three-set league triumph by scores of 25-10, 25-9, 25-6.
On the day for St. Philip, Stephanie Gusching had 10 kills; Jaclyn Behnke had five kills; Casey Gallagher had three kills and two digs; Amanda McKinzie had seven kills, two digs and nine aces; Emily Schaub had 14 assists; and Abby McKinzie had seven assists.
Lady Cardinal Invite: Hanover-Horton, ranked No. 4 in Division 4, edged Lakeview — ranked No. 2 in D-2 — by nine shots to take first-place honors at the Golf Club of Coldwater in the 16-team event.
Hanover-Horton had a 347 and Lakeview a 356. Also, K-Hackett (No. 2 in D-4) was third with 357, St. Joseph (No. 9 in D-2) tied for fourth with 368, Hillsdale Academy (No. 6 in D-4) was sixth with 370, Marshall was ninth with 391, Coldwater Red was 10th with 392, Harper Creek was 14th with 457, Coldwater White was 15th with 488 and B.C. Central/Pennfield co-op was 16th with 505.
The individual medalist was Tecumseh’s Paige Watkins with a 79.
Scoring for Lakeview were Sarah Vocke with 85 (8th), Danielle Little with 88, Amanda Noakes with 90 and Megan Strole with 93.
Scoring for Marshall were Sammi Price with 83 (4th), Amanda Genise with 88, Annie Cape with 109 and Jill Puckett with 111.
Host Coldwater Red was led by Anna Wendorf with 92, Katie Fair with 93, Cecelia Ward with 97 and Abby Donbrock with 110.
Harper Creek received an 88 from Jozlin Johnson, 117 from Miranda Maddox, 124 from Keely Cruz and 128 from Baylee Wilkins.
Scoring for Coldwater White were Jami Maxson with 101, Emma Dwyer with 124, Madison Donbrock with 130 and Kate Vella with 133.
And, BCC/Pennfield’s scorers were 110 from Megan DeHart, 116 from Ashlynd Horvath, 123 from Amber Chapin and 156 from Paylend Swartz.
