After a scoreless first quarter, Belton-Honea Path’s offense put up three touchdowns apiece in the second and third quarters, respectively, and the Bears (3-1) went on to a 42-14 win over Palmetto Friday night in Honea Path.

Korey Thompson raced 54 yards for a touchdown to get BHP on the board. After Matt Williams connected with Jermale Turner on a 55-yard touchdown, Kendall Joseph scored from 4 yards out to stake the Bears to a 21-0 halftime lead.

Anthony White opened the second-half scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run. Williams fired another long touchdown, this time a 56-yard score to Keinan Lewis. White closed out BHP’s scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run later in the third quarter.

The Mustangs (2-2) dented the scoreboard on a 16-yard touchdown run by Troy Allen. Palmetto’s Janike Mangle later threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Cromer to complete the scoring.

Thompson rushed for 111 yards on 14 carries to lead the Bears, who are ranked No. 9 in The Greenville News Upstate poll, and 4th in Class AAA. Williams completed 7-of-12 passes for 183 yards and no interceptions.
