YULEE, Fla. — Derrick Henry has been making headlines since his freshman year at Yulee High School. The star running back will be a senior in the fall, but this summer he’s working hard in the weight room and on the field to take himself and his team to the next level.
With nearly 8,000 career rushing yards, Henry needed just three seasons to break the area’s record which was previously held by Fletcher High School graduate and former Gator Ciatrick Fason. While Henry has proven himself on the field time and time again, he still has some doubters who think he’s too big (6’3″, 240 lbs) to be a running back in college.
Derrick recently reopened his recruitment after having spent most of the past year as a verbal commitment to the University of Georgia. Chad Cushnir recently followed Henry around for a few hours during his summer workout routine.
