Siegel’s Ashlee Boles made Rutherford County tennis history in 2012.
Oakland’s Connor Shea continued his dominance on the boys court.
The duo highlight the 2012 DNJ All-Area Tennis Team.
Boles, a junior, continued her dominance on the District 7-AAA level and took it statewide. Boles won her third straight District 7-AAA title and second consecutive Region 4-AAA title. She then became the first Rutherford County female tennis player to win a TSSAA girls singles title, winning in straight sets.
While Shea didn’t make it to state this season as an individual, he did lead Oakland to the Class AAA state team tournament. He went undefeated in District 7-AAA singles action, but chose to play with teammate James Myers in doubles during the postseason.
Like Boles, Shea was the District 7-AAA MVP.
Boles is joined by teammates Marissa Kovach and Jacquelyn Leeman. Riverdale’s Taylor Nelson, Oakland’s Hannah Waggoner and Central Magnet’s Carley Hatcliff also are on the first team.
On the boys side, Shea is joined by James and Charley Myers. Charley Myers was the District 7-AAA and Region 4-AAA singles champion. Siegel’s Taylor Graalman and Brad Leeman, Central Magnet’s Mason Grear and Riverdale’s Paul Montgomery are also on the first team.
