The Murfreesboro Strikers 97 girls soccer team has reached the semifinals of the Division I Southern Regionals with a 2-0-1 record through three games.

The Strikers defeated the Georgia Phoenix Red 97 2-0 on Sunday. The Strikers opened the regionals with a 2-1 win over the Arkansas Comets 97 on Friday. They then tied Brentwood TN 97 1-1 on Saturday.

The Strikers play FC Alliance of Knoxville at 10 a.m. today. Three of the top eight teams in the U15 age group are from Tennessee.

The Strikers 97 are the first team of the Murfreesboro Strikers program to ever qualify for the Division I Southern Regionals. The team placed third at the state tournament, but qualified for the regionals as a premier league team. Brentwood won the state tournament, while FC Alliance were the Super League Champs.

The team is coached by Alan Oates with McKenzie Gibson helping as an assistant coach.
