Nate Lassila sparked the Roncalli boys basketball team early in a 53-32 defeat of Reedsville on Thursday in Manitowoc.

Lassila scored the first four points for the Jets, and they never trailed to move to 7-1 , 5-1 in the Olympian Conference.

Up 8-3 after one quarter, Roncalli extended its lead to 16-6 as Josh Erickson hit two 3-pointers for the Jets in quick succession while Brock Gilsdorf hit one for the Panthers.

Reedsville (2-6, 1-5 OC), was kept in the game by making several free throws as the Panthers trailed 23-14 at the end of the first half.

The Jets took advantage of deep shots which were available after continually moving the ball looking for the perfect opportunity.

Nick Stelzer and Isaiah Bessert continued the Roncalli trend of hitting 3’s, nailing one each to start the second off as the Jets used an 10-0 run to take a 33-14 lead.

Roncalli’s ball movement proved too much for Reedsville to handle while the Panthers offense stalled in the half court on the opposite end.

The Jets would take a 41-21 lead into the fourth quarter.

Gilsdorf got going in the fourth, trimming Reedsville’s deficit to 41-26 in the open seconds of the final frame.
