James Cruger and Shawn Cimorelli each fired a 4-over-par 38 as the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School boys golf team won a second consecutive Mid-Hudson Athletic League match, 157-182 over Highland on Tuesday at Dinsmore Golf Course.
“Our kids are shooting some solid low scores,” Roosevelt coach Kevin Hart said. “We hope to keep these scores consistently low through the rest of the season. They’ve gotten better as a group, which is an important key.”
Hart said the team’s iron play has been a key aspect to the improved scores.
“The iron play is more consistent. Any time that comes into play, the scores will become more consistent,” Hart said.
Mike Boryk shot a season-low 39, and Troy Farley added a 42 for the Presidents (4-4 overall and league).
“It’s nice to see Mike come in as a sophomore and shoot the 39. He worked on his game over the summer and his hard work is starting to pay off,” Hart said.
Chris Mandia (40) and Will McMahon (42) led Highland.
Paul Hansut added a 47 for the Huskies (4-3).
Roosevelt will be on the road Thursday to take on Wallkill in a league match.
Highland will be in Plattekill on Thursday to oppose Marlboro.
