Boys soccer: Falls holds off Campbellsport; New Holstein shuts out Kiel

The Campbellsport High School boys soccer team challenged EWC leading Sheboygan Falls, but lost to the visiting Falcons, 3-2, on Monday afternoon.

Campbellsport’s Ryan Costello scored the opener in the 13th minute on an assist from Joe Casper, who scored the game’s final goal in the 57th minute. In between, Falls (10-1 EWC) scored three times with Campbellsport (6-5) goalie Dakota Best making 13 saves.

“We fought really hard all game The intensity was there,” said Cougars coach Geoffrey Baumann. “They like to play with a lot of possession, and we were able to shake that up, but the little defensive mistakes cost us. When we play with intensity, we can play with anybody in the conference.”

Three different players scored in the Huskies’ win at their rival.

Ethan Webber had a shot from distance that the wind played with for the only first-half goal. Then Mike Pasineau and Jason Meyers tacked on second-half goals.

“We played slow and sluggish in the first half, but came out with much more energy after halftime,” New Holstein coach Nate Laabs said. “We distributed the ball much more efficiently, spread it wide, and had a lot of good chances at goal.”

Laabs said Pasineau took control of the game in the midfield.
