SUNBURY — Tri-Valley’s boys soccer team took its first defeat of the season Saturday in a 3-0 loss to Big Walnut.
The Eagles (2-0) scored three first-half goals. Adam Carifa opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by Luke Hastings four minutes later. Austin Foor finished the scoring with 14:53 left in the half.
David McAlister and Brad Untied combined for nine saves on 12 Big Walnut shots.
Tyler Sholl had three saves for the Eagles. Each of Tri-Valley’s three shots came in the second half, but the Scotties (1-1) were unable to get on the scoreboard.
Tri-Valley had a one-goal lead at halftime in the reserve contest, but Big Walnut rallied for a 4-1 win.

Tri-Valley returns home Tuesday for a Muskingum Valley League game with West Muskingum.
