Cardinals skate past Wausau West



Two goals in a 3½-minute span in the second period lifted Fond du Lac to a 3-2 win over Wausau West in a non-conference hockey game on Saturday.

Ty Rebedew’s goal off an assist from Nate Martin tied the game for the Cardinals, while Jack Nejedlo notched the go-ahead goal off an assist from Caylen Dyni with 7:28 left in the second period.

Neither team scored in the third period.

Wausau West opened the scoring 13:35 into the opening period but Rebedew scored off an assist from Nejedlo about two minutes late to even the score.

Charlie Blagoue finished with 31 saves for the Cardinals.

Waupun 5, Fox Cities 4: The Warriors used a three-goal third period to take the lead and then held on for the win on Saturday night.

After tying the game with a second period goal, Waupun fell behind, 3-2, early in third period but quickly answered back.

Brady Beekman scored off an assist from Beek to even the score and then took the lead less than a minute later on a goal by Jordan Foster.

Adrian Harmsen added a shorthanded goal with 3:25 left for a two-goal lead.

Fox Cities narrowed the margin to one with more than three minutes left but Waupun didn’t allow any more.

Beekman finished with a pair of goals, while Brandon VanGalen also scored.

Raider Duals: Dakota Danner posted a 4-1 mark with three pins for Mayville, but the Cardinals went 0-5 at the dual meet tournament Saturday.

Chance Feller, Tony Giese and Sam Retzlaff each posted three wins on the day for Mayville.
