Central Magnet boys take 2nd in district


The Central Magnet boys golf team finished second in the District 8 tournament on Tuesday at White Plains Golf Course in Cookeville. The Tigers shot a 339, while DeKalb County won the event with a 320.

Central’s Colton Miller shot a 78 and finished fourth after defeating teammate Jordan Reynolds, who shot a 78, in a playoff.

Logan Reynolds fired a 90 and Austin Tipton shot 93. Central was the only team in the district to send its girls and boys teams to next week’s region tournament.

The Lady Warriors defeated La Vergne 25-11, 25-12, 25-11 to move their record to 26-14 on the season, and 9-0 in District 7-AAA.

Kirsten Inman had 24 assists, Ashleigh Lozier had 10 kills, and Abby Shaw and Kenia Azor had six kills.

Dykyla Wells and Alicia McClennan had three blocks each, while Shaw and Olivia Jones with 2 each.

Inman had a team-high eight service aces, whle Lozier had four and Jena Goodman three. In

Kirsten Inman lead the Warriors with eight ace serves and 15 service points, while Lozier and Goodman had four and three aces, respectively.

The Warriors are in 7AAA action Thursday at home vs. Siegel.

The Lady Blaze won 25-11, 25-15, 25-20. Danielle Jed had three blocks and five kills, Jamie Oliver had 18 assists, Jess Oliver had nine assists, Alexis Vougavong had three assists, seven kills and six digs, Santan Alejanda had nine kills and four digs, Tori Roman had five kills and two blocks and Alex Johnson had five kills and two blocks.

Kayla Jones scored the goal for the Lady Cougars off an assist from Ashlynd Wilkerson. Leah Stinson had eight saves
