Billups tore his achilles tendon on February 6th in a game against the Orlando Magic and was lost for the season.
Speculation was that the injury might threaten to end his career.
Today, the 35-year old NBA All-Star is rehabilitating the injury to get back on the court and as an unrestricted free agent is more determined then ever to be on an NBA team at the start of training camp.
But before he signs with a team this summer Billups will get back on the court at his annual youth camp next week in Parker.
The Chauncey Billups Academy runs from June 25th-28th at the Parker Field House.
Camps for 6-10 year olds run from 9am-Noon with 11-14 year olds playing from 1-4pm.
A staff of trained coaches will focus on fundamentals that enhance players’ dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, team-play and speed and agility training with an emphasis on fun. “I can’t wait to see the kids from last summer and see how much they have developed over the year,” said Billups.
Billups will be joined by other NBA players including former Clippers teammate and 5-time NBA All-Star guard Chris Paul.
