Chutes strut past Sartell, 3-1


SARTELL – Steven Neutzling went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple to lead the St. Cloud Chutes offense in a 3-1 St. Cloud Sub-District VI American Legion baseball win against Sartell Tuesday night at Champion Field.

Jeff Fasching also had two hits, including a triple and an RBI for the Chutes and Waylon Bemboom added a pair of singles.

Brian Minks went all seven with five strikeouts to earn the victory.

Jake Wenzel went 2-for-2 with a double an RBI for Sartell (4-2 district). Brandon Waldvogel and Jake Wenzel added two singles each for Sartell.

Cold Spring 2, Zimmerman 0

ZIMMERMAN – Cold Spring’s Jake Hennen struck out 10 in a two-hit shutout at Zimmerman.

Cold Spring scored two runs in the top of the two sixth inning on an RBI double by Adam Dingmann and Marshall Wirtzfeld’s RBI single. Sean Terres doubled for Cold Spring (3-2).

Kyle Conley struck out six and allowed seven hits in seven innings for Zimmerman.

Big Lake 10, Becker 4

BECKER – Mason Leogring went 4-for-5 with a triple and two doubles as Big Lake defeated Becker.

Joe Rathmanner went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles for Big Lake (3-3) and Brett Wattercott went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Becker (2-4).

Browerville 4, Albany 3

ALBANY – Browerville broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh to edge Albany.

Scott Litchy went 2-for-3 double and an RBI for Albany (4-6). Litchy went the distance and took the loss, striking out nine and all four runs were earned.

Aaron Eiynck had two hits and an RBI for Albany.

Cold Spring Rockies 7, St. Nicholas 1

COLD SPRING – Brad Koltes was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in the seventh inning and pitched the final four innings in relief as Cold Spring defeated St. Nicholas in Central Valley League play.

Rick Burtzel went five innings to pick up the win.

Waite Park 10, Milaca 4

Mel Gebhardt went 2-for-3 with two runs scored as Waite Park coasted past Milaca at Apollo High School.

Ashtin Joos hit a bases-loaded triple and Maria Bastin struck out 11 batters to get the win for Waite Park (8-2-1).

Cold Spring 6-6, Pierz 1-1

PIERZ – Taylre Boser went 2-for-2 with a double in the first game and Tiara Hopkins had a hit in each game for Pierz in its doubleheader losses to Cold Spring.

Pierz falls to 0-6.

Albany 13-2, Little Falls 5-2

LITTLE FALLS – Chelsey Karnowski and Abby Thoma both went 2-for-2 and scored a run for Little Falls in the first game of a doubleheader loss to Albany.

Korlyna Keehr had an RBI double for Little Falls in Game 2.
