Cleveland's Gausha wins first victory in London

CLEVELAND — Cleveland’s Terrell Gausha won his first victory in London in the men’s middleweight division in boxing.

Gausha won the decision against Armenia’s Andranik Hakobyan. Gausha, a Glenville graduate was making his Olympic debut.

The United States hasn’t won an Olympic gold medal in the middleweight division since 1976 when Michael Spinks won. It’s the longest drought in any weight class for Team USA Boxing.

Gausha fights next in the Round of 16. He will face the winner of the India versus Kazakhstan on August. 2.
