Benji Seitz assisted Sean Nemec on the only goal of the game which came in the second half on Thursday afternoon as the Hillsborough High School boys soccer team, ranked No. 4 in the Courier News Top 10, fended off No. 3 Hunterdon Central 1-0 at Stewart Field in Raritan Township.

Jimmy Mazich made five saves for the Raiders (8-2, 6-0 Skyland Delaware), who kept on stranglehold of first place in the division.

Jake Schenk made three saves for Hunterdon Central (7-2, 5-2).

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 5, Cranford 4 (OT): Top-ranked Scotch Plains-Fanwood survived Cranford in overtime to remain unbeaten at 10-0-1. Goals for the Raiders were scored by Andrew Leischner, Jaissem Wahtuse, Vinny Bianco, James Murphy and Rob Zukofsky.

Watchung Hills 5, Montgomery 2: Ben Lerner netted a pair of goals and Tom Cagnetta, Jaysen Bohrod and Spencer Silverstein added one goal each to power No. 7 Watchung Hills. John Marques made nine saves for the Warriors (5-2-1). Juan Hoyos and Kolby Simon scored goals Montgomery, which fell 0-11-1.

Bridgewater-Raritan 4, North Hunterdon 1: Cole Gladfelter netted a pair of goals, while Pat Masur and Josh Rich added one goal each for No. 8 Bridgewater-Raritan. Drew Ungerleider had two assists and Amit Mohan stopped seven shots for the Panthers (7-4). Andrew Ottinger scored a goal and Jon Scott made 10 saves for North Hunterdon (2-6-1).

Westfield 4, Delaware Valley 0: Derek Amakye tallied a pair of goals while Henry Smith added one goal and one assist to fuel No. 9 Westfield. Daniel LaCorte recorded his fourth consecutive shutout and fifth of the season for the Blue Devils (5-2-3). Ben Breines made 10 saves for Delaware Valley (2-6-2).

Immaculata 2, Phillipsburg 1 (OT): Danny Reilly assisted Chris Cella’s goal in the second overtime period for the game-winning goals. Immaculata’s first goal came in the second half on a free kick by Mark Swintek. With the victory, the Spartans improved to 4-5 overall.

Voorhees 2, Somerville 2 (OT): Drew Brenn scored a pair of goals while Dan Drill notched eight saves for Somerville (5-4-2). Sam Caffrey netted a pair of goals for Voorhees (4-4-2).

North Plainfield 5, Manville 0: Joey Almeida and Bryan Carabali each scored two goals to power North Plainfield. Luis Acosta added a goal for the Canucks, who improved their record to 6-1-2. Jay Caluna made five saves for his fifth shutout of the season. Ariel Rodriquez made 12 Saves for Manville (5-4).

South Plainfield 2, New Brunswick 1: Anthony Rovayo and Roberto Mendoza scored goals while Erick Rodriquez added an assist for South Plainfield. Patrick Boyle made 10 saves for the Tigers (4-5-3).

North Brunswick 3, Piscataway 0: David Coffie-Owusu tallied twice as the Raiders scored a road victory. Anish Daweja also found the back of the net for North Brunswick (6-2-1). Zach Puttle made 10 saves for Piscataway (2-8).

Governor Livingston 3, A.L. Johnson 0: Dylan Weitz scored one goal and added one assist to power Governor Livingston (9-2).

Rahway 1, New Providence 0: Michael Zamora made six saves for New Providence (1-8-2).

Hillside 2, Union Catholic 0: Union Catholic fell to 2-4-3 on the season.

Girls Soccer

Franklin 3, Pingry 2: Senior Taylor Packwood erupted to score three goals and Veronica Acevedo stopped five shots as unranked Franklin (5-5) shocked No. 7 Pingry for the first time in either program’s history. Carli Rotatori and Dani Temares each scored for the Big Blue (6-3-1).

Hunterdon Central 2, Hillsborough 0: Alli DeLuca and Christine Tack scored goals and Jacklyn Davis and Jamie Gentile posted assists to power Hunterdon Central (7-4). Katerina Albanese and Kelly Amen combined to make eight saves for Hillsborough (4-5-1).

Bridgewater
Raritan 2, North Hunterdon 0: Alison Morgan and Megan Sousa each cashed in on crosses from Brianna Petro to lead sixth-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan (7-2-1). Casey Murphy posted four saves for the shutout, while Kelly Gallapher stopped eight shots for the Lions (4-5).

Scotch Plains-Fanwood 1, Oak Knoll 0: Tori Vallatico scored off a Katie Harper pass to lift fifth-ranked Scotch Plains-Fanwood (10-2). Taylor Sebolao made three saves to post the shutout.

Ridge 4, Rutgers Prep 0: Keri Villano scored a pair of goals and Alex Wayrauch distributed three assists to lead third-ranked Ridge (7-2-2). Megan Groner made 13 saves for Rutgers Prep (2-7).

Union Catholic 2, A.L. Johnson 1: Courtney McGovern and Kate Lowe scored a goal and Molly O’Holloran made six saves to power Union Catholic (2-6).

New Providence 2, Summit 0: Lisa Caprara scored one goal and Erin Fay scored the other to lead New Providence. Katie Vigilante made 11 saves for the Pioneers (4-7).

North Plainfield 1, Manville 0: Caitlin Gugliotta scored off a pass from Maria Molina, and Kendra Egbert made one save to power North Plainfield (4-4-1). Katelyn Ulicny made seven saves for Manville (2-6-1).

Somerset Tech 4, Dunellen 0: Freshman Harleen Singh posted a hat trick and Ariel Conner added a goal to send Somerset Tech (4-6).

Edison 2, South Plainfield 0: Jackie Dvorak made 18 saves for South Plainfield (4-7-1).

HWST Preliminary round

Voorhees 8, Hopatcong 1: Madison Gavornik struck for two goals and an assist and Mary Jolly added two goals to ignite No. 7A seed Voorhees. The Vikings (3-6-1) will face 2B seed Sparta in Saturday’s second round.

High Point
1, Delaware Valley 0: Rebecca Kullman made 27 saves for 9A-seeded Delaware Valley, which was held to just one shot on goal. But High Point scored 7:30 into overtime to sink the Terriers (0-9).

Field Hockey

Bridgewater-Raritan 6, North Hunterdon 0: Cat Caro scored three goals and Lindsay Alvarez chipped in four assists, helping Bridgewater-Raritan coast. Five different players recorded at least one point for the Panthers, who moved to 10-1. Bridget Walsh made 13 saves for North Hunterdon (0-10-1).

Pingry 4, Hillsborough 2: Katie Ruesterholz recorded a hat trick in leading Pingry to a 4-1 halftime lead. Stephanie Yeh made four saves for the Big Blue (4-2). Jacki Schwankert caged two goals and Ursula Zadzilko and Shannon Oryniak combined to make five saves for Hillsborough (4-7).

Franklin 5, Mount St. Mary 3: Franklin jumped out to a 4-1 lead at halftime en route to victory. Kylie Berko and Salonika Muhammad each tallied twice for the Warriors (6-4) and Janelle Melecio made nine saves to preserve the win. Alyssa Torres made eight saves for Mount St. Mary, which fell to 1-8-1.

Ridge 2, Hunterdon Central 1: Devon and Sam Brown each scored after halftime as Ridge pulled off a road victory. Ridge (4-7) converted on 40 percent of its shots, scoring twice on just five shots. Fran Orella made three saves for Hunterdon Central (6-5).

Voorhees 4, Somerville 0: Sara Diacik scored two goals and added an assist to help Voorhees. The Vikings scored three times in the second half, breaking open a 1-0 halftime lead, upping their record to 6-2-1. Somerville’s goalkeeping duo of Alyssa Judd and Emily Tomasko combined to make 15 saves in the contest. The Pioneers fell to 2-12.

Bernards 3, North Plainfield 0: Sam Siegel scored two goals, Shea Murray added one goal and Reagan Thomson had one assist to power Bernards (5-3). North Plainfield is now 0-9.

A.L. Johnson 1, Westfield 0: Deanna Cohen made 15 saves for Westfield (4-7).
