The Colon High football team ran into red-hot defending MHSAA Division 8 state champ Mendon on Saturday afternoon in first-round playoff action and saw its season come to an end with a 41-0 setback.
The visiting Magi (5-5) managed only 27 yards rushing and 50 yards passing against the Hornets (10-0), who had 331 yards on the ground and 32 in the air.
Nick Eberstein had three rushing TDs for top-ranked Mendon as well as 106 total yards on seven carries, and Tyler Harris had two TD runs and rushed for 155 yards on 21 attempts.
Colon quarterback Ryan Balizet was 2-for-9 passing for 50 yards, with both of those catches made by Arron Balizet. Defensively for the Magi, Brad Yoder had 11 tackles; Ramsey Potter had six; and Jessie Binkley, Chase Morris, Kyler Thibideau, James West and Andrew Mock had five apiece.
