A trip to Withington Stadium in Jackson on Sept. 21 gave the visiting Comets varsity football team its fourth straight win as Grand Ledge crushed the Vikings 42-14.
As in the previous weeks, the Comets defense held its opponents of low yardage totals as the defense gave up just 147 yards on the ground on 32 attempts and 4-of-12 passing for 61 yards.
The defense also helped itself out by picking off three passes, one each by junior Marq Adams and seniors Jacob Quain and Charlie Kreager.
In addition, Quain had three tackles for losses, senior Ben Bedard two for losses and senior Dylan McMann one for a loss.
Sophomore Jonathon Dobie led the defense with nine tackles while Bedard added six and junior Keefer Johnson and Quain five, senior Devante Dear four and McMann four.
Again the offense moved the ball as they covered 229 yards rushing on 38 carries. Leading the way again was junior tailback Joe Reverman as he closed in on a 1,000 yard season with 165 yards on just 14 carries and scored four touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Jalen Brady completed four passes on just seven attempts with his long toss being a 41-yard strike to senior receiver Will Farr. Farr ended his night with 68 yards on three catches.
Senior Connor Anderson pulled down the other pass for a 29-yard gain.
Cornell carried the ball four times for 41 yards in rushing while Brady gained 28 yards on five rushes.
Junior Tyler Vincent added nine carries for 31 yards and junior Brent Rutkowski gained 15 yards with three carries.
Senior placekicker Bradlee Taylor booted all six of his extra point attempts for six of the 42 points.
With the win, Grand Ledge goes to 4-1 for the year and 3-0 in the CAAC Blue.
