The Fond du Lac boys cross country team took fifth as a team with three runners in the top-25 of the Matt Hadler Memorial Invite at Menomonee Falls.
Senior Chris Leisses ran the 5,000 meters in 16 minutes, 37 seconds to take fourth place. The winner from Waukesha South finished in 15:44.
Also for Fondy, Nolan Cunningham was 19th in 17:21 and Nathan Gunderson was 4 seconds back in 22nd.
The Fond du Lac girls took ninth in Menomonee Falls.
Sophomore Megan Buechel took 18th in 16:25 and freshman Annie Moore was 24th in 16:46.
Appleton East’s Mira Ensley-Field won in 14:42.
The St. Mary’s Springs girls cross country team took second out of 11 teams at Roncalli with Two Rivers winning the title.
Liz Bohn and Abby Busse ran great races. Bohn was third individually running the 4k in 16 minutes, 7 seconds. Busse took fourth, seven seconds behind Bohn. Paige Case was 19th overall. Two Rivers’ Carly Terp won in 15:36.
The Ledgers’ boys team was fourth led by a fifth-place finish from Alan Burkart in 18:01 and a 10th place finish from Andrew Skiff in 18:22.
Springs coach Shane Smith said he saw a highly-motivated girls team, and he said the boys team is showing improvements each week.
Nine area teams took part in Friday’s Mayville Invite cross-country meet.
Waupun’s boys took second place led by Andrew Klapper, who was the individual runner-up. Bryce Verheyen was fifth and Josh Knowlton ran to 24th.
Campbellsport’s boys took 11th as a team in the 28-team field led by Tyler Beres, who ran 19:05 for 40th place.
In the girls’ meet, Waupun took 14th out of 26 teams. Hannah Smith led the Warriors, placing 42nd.
Campbellsport’s girls took 15th place led by Lizzy Fellion’s 55th place (18:26).
