Jeff Hanson finished third, Colt Roth finished fifth, and the Lions took second place Saturday at the Newark Catholic Invitational behind champion Newark.
Hanson ran a time of 17:09, and Roth finished in 17:33. Jacob Motts (10th, 17:59), Brandon Altiers (16th, 18:20) and Gene Smith (33rd, 18:58) rounded out the Lions’ scorers.
Fisher Catholic finished fourth, Fairfield Christian was fifth, Fairfield Union was eighth, and Millersport was 13th out of 14 teams. Cawood Boone led the Irish with a sixth place finish in 17:41. Jared Faulkner (15th, 18:19) and Clayton Walters (26th, 18:44) followed. Alex Hoover was the Knights’ top finisher, as he was 13th. Isaac Verdow was 19th to pace Fairfield Union. Austin McKinnon (58th, 19:55) led Millersport.
For the girls, Fisher Catholic finished sixth, Amanda-Clearcreek was seventh, Fairfield Christian was eighth, and Liberty Union was ninth out of 17 teams. Fairfield Union was 13th, and Berne Union was 17th.
Fairfield Union freshman Jessica Swaim finished fourth in 20:45. Lauren Verdow followed her by placing 10th (21:38). Amanda-Clearcreek’s Sammie Butterbaugh finished sixth in 21:10, and her teammate, Bekah Legg, was 13th (21:58).
Taylor Truesdell (11th, 21:45) had FCA’s top finish. Hannah Kumler (19th, 22:21) was the Knights’ next best finisher.
Liberty Union’s Aubrey Dunfee finished 16th (22:15) to lead the Lions. Berne Union freshman Hannah Chapman finished 25th (22:38) to lead the Rockets.
