Relying on a balanced ground and air attack, the Community School of Naples dismantled the Oasis Charter Sharks at Shilling field in Naples.
Sophomores Ford Ott and Casey Santos-Ocampo combined for 139 yards on the ground and two touchdowns while junior quarterback Drew Tomaini rebounded from last week’s poor passing performance by tallying 109 total yards and four touchdowns.
“Last week’s loss against Neumann was really tough,” said Tomaini, who leads Collier County in passing yards and touchdowns. “But we had an incredible week of practice and it showed tonight.”
The Seahawks (1-1, 2-2) struck early and often. Following an opening onside kick recovery, Santos-Ocampo scampered 35 yards for the game’s first touchdown with 10:15 left in the first quarter. Two plays from scrimmage later, Ott broke three tackles on his way to a 39 yard touchdown.
Tomaini punctuated the Seahawks’ near flawless first half with a 36-yard slant pattern to Johnny Baker with 56 seconds left in the quarter.
The overmatched Sharks (1-2) were stymied all night by a stingy Seahawks defense that forced five turnovers and gave up just 41 yards of offense.
