Curtis Turley, who has coached in all sections of Kentucky, has been hired as the state coordinator for the Kentucky High School Basketball Coaches’ Hall of Fame, director Ken Trivette announced Friday.
Turley resigned as an assistant women’s coach at Western Kentucky University to accept the position, saying, “I consider myself a lifetime coach and basketball historian.”
Turley has been a head coach at 12 different high schools spread over seven regions, and has taken several teams to the Sweet 16 state tournament. He has coached at Graves County in the First Region, Lyon County and Henderson County in the Second, Daviess County in the Third, Greenwood, Warren Central and Warren East in the Fourth, Manual in the Seventh, Shelby County and Collins in the Eighth, Berea and Lexington Catholic in the 11th.
He was the youngest head coach (at 22) in the state when he took over at Berea after graduating from WKU.
