WESTON – Zach Holdridge connected on a penalty kick in the 35th minutes and that was the only goal D.C. Everest could muster as the Evergreens had to settle for a 1-1 tie with Milwaukee Pius in a non-conference game on Saturday.
Milwaukee Pius, down 1-0 at intermission, tied the game when Evan Martin scored in the 65 minute and that was where it ended after 100 minutes.
Everest’s Nate Kitchell recorded nine saves for the 2-3-1 Evergreens.

MARATHON – The Raiders went 10-1 to win their own invitational by beating Spencer, a state tournament team last year 25-8, 29-27 in the championship.
In Pool A action, Marathon beat Thorp 25-8, 25-14, Fall Creek 25-19, 24-26, 15-8 and Loyal 25-17, 25-16. In the crossover round Marathon topped Stratford 25-13, 25-14.
Kia Lechleitner led Marathon with 67 assists and Morgan Wirkus had 53. Brianna Wirkus was the dig leader with 30 and Emily Kind was right behind with 27, while Kind and Wirkus had 29 and 25 kills, respectively.
Spencer, 8-2 on the day, won Pool B by beating Phillips 25-20, 24-26, 15-10, Stratford 25-19, 21 and Northland Lutheran 25-16, 25-14 and topped Fall Creek 27-25, 25-15 in the crossover match.

MENOMONIE – The Evergreens went 5-3 at the Sprawl, a two-day event.
In pool play Everest beat Colfax 26-24, 26-24, Somerset 25-9, 13-25, 15-13 and Mosinee 25-21, 16-25, 15-13 and lost to Chippewa Falls 19-25, 18-25 and Cameron 12-25, 20-25.
In the Silver Bracket Everest beat Elk Mound 22-25, 25-14, 15-9, lost to Athens 25-20, 23-25, 12-15 and then defeated Rice Lake 19-25, 25-13, 15-11.
“The girls played with a lot of energy and desire to win and they pushed through some tough matches,” Everest coach Zachary Heit said.
Athens placed second in the Silver Bracket after finishing 2-1 on Saturday, and McKenzie Brodziski was named to the all-tournament team.
In addition to beating the Evergreens, the Bluejays knocked off Eau Calire Memorial in three games and lost to Hudson in two games. The results came on the heels of a 3-2 performance in pool play Friday.
Mosinee placed eighth out of 30 teams and were in the Gold Division.
Aubrey Antosch (libero) earned all-tournment team, Kayla Zagzebski led the squad with 22 kills, Brianna Kleinschmidt added 15 kills and Anna Michlig had a team-high 64 assists.
