The New Holstein boys soccer team jumped out to an early lead on the road at Winneconne, but couldn’t hold it in a pouring rain losing to the sixth-seeded Wolves 3-1.

Mike Pasineau scored at 8 minutes in the first half. Nathan Schmitz assisted on the play.

Winneconne scored at 24 minutes and 31 minutes to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break. The Wolves scored early in the second half to extend the lead.

“We had a great start, scoring early off a free kick,” said New Holstein coach Nate Laabs. “The majority of the first half was very even. It came down to which team was giong to come out the final 40 minutes and fought through the conditions and they just outplayed us in the second half.”

Athly Sabish made five saves for New Holstein.

Sheboygan Falls 7

North Fondy/Oakfield 0

Caleb Ebbers had three goals for second-seeded Sheboygan Falls, which won the Eastern Wisconsin Conference championship. Trent Vielbig made 19 saves for the 17th-seeded Nutz, who went 2-19-2.

“The good thing is we know that we are young and we have a lot to look forward to next season,” NF/O coach Donovan Heavener said. “We are losing four great seniors, but they really worked hard this season to help prepare our younger players for the years to come.”

Cameron Greene scored a hat trick for the host Purple Raiders with two goals in the first half and another one tacked on in the 52nd minute.
