Dana Carris placed second in the Boys Seeded AA2 race to lead Vestal to a 12th place finish Saturday at the McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Valley Park in Rochester.
Over 2,000 runners participated in several races along the circular 3.1-mile course.
Carris finished in 15 minutes, 23 seconds.
Senior Jenna Cupp placed eighth overall in 18:13 in the Girls Unseeded Varsity A-1 race to lead Newark Valley to a 12th-place finish. Other top finishers for Newark Valley included Kayla Stewart (48th), Rebekah Meyers (77th), Allison Riegel (101st), Leanne Riegel (103rd).
Freshman Marlee Shaffer (74th) led Windsor, which placed 19th.
Senior Kelsey Brown of Chenango Forks placed 73rd in 21:19 in the Unseeded Varsity A-2 race to lead all local runners to help her school finish 10th among 31 teams.
Senior Elizabeth Jewiss of Marathon finished fifth in the Unseeded Varsity A-3 race. Daphne Knapp placed 34th in 20:43 for Afton.
Marathon placed 21st in the team standings.
Ruthie Weissmann (67th), Brenna Simons (102nd) led Vestal to a 23rd-place finish in the Girls Varsity B race.
Union-Endicott’s Kelsey Prosinski placed 27th in 19:45 in the Girls Unseeded AA-2 race.
Maine-Endwell 3, Baldwinsville 0
Danielle Cronk had two goals, leading Maine-Endwell to a victory over Baldwinsville in the third place game of the Rome Free Academy Knight Time Classic on Saturday.
Cronk tallied 19 minutes into the game to open the scoring, and again three minutes into the second half.
With time running out in the first half, the Spartans were pushing to add to their lead. Brianna Siganek had the ball along the baseline and found Gabby Stein in front of the net for a 2-0 lead with 21 seconds left.
Vestal 2, Union-Endicott 0
Mike Hasbrouck and Mac Felton each had a goal to lead Vestal to the top of the Metro Division. With the win Vestal improved to 0-1.
