The Manitowoc Lincoln boys soccer team fell behind 2-0 and couldn’t complete a late rally as the Ships fell 2-1 at home on Tuesday night.
De Pere led 1-0 at halftime after scoring at the 29-minute mark. The Redbirds added another at the 42-minute mark before Lincoln’s Byron Anderson scored on an assist from Jacob Lembke with 38 minutes left in regulation.
De Pere had 16 shots in the game to the Ships’ four while Lincoln had three shots on goal to the Redbirds’ 12.
Drake Nickels was in net for Lincoln and made 10 saves.
“(It was) a great showing from our boys against one of our conference’s best teams,” Lincoln Coach Chris Callen said in an email after the game. “Jacob Lembke and Byron Anderson gave us tremendous minutes off the bench … . I think our boys, and everyone in attendance, learned a lot about what kind of group we have his year. I demand a lot from them and they are delivering.”
Two Rivers 10, Kiel 0
Two Rivers (1-2) had three goals from Cameron Greene (6:13, 12:15, 21:32) and three goals from Brock Gospodarek (12:58, 25:25, 35:18) in the 60-minute road win.
Also adding goals were Tyler Shallow (38:30) and Mac Shimalunas (22:16), with Shallow also having three assists in the game.
Kiel had one shot on goal as Two Rivers’ goalkeeper Erik Wiegand earned the win.
Roncalli 4, St. Mary Springs 1
Visiting Roncalli got on the board one minute into the game on a score by Dean Waldhart.
Nine minutes later Devin Veith put the Jets up 2-0 on an assist from Waldhart. Veith scored his second goal of the game 18 minutes later again on an assist from Waldhart.
St. Mary Springs scored in the 39th minute to make the game 2-1 at halftime.
In the 71st minute Veith completed the hat trick, scoring his third goal on an assist from Waldhart.
Zach Berres was in net for the Jets (2-1) and made three saves.
