Dowling Catholic punter chooses Arizona State

There’s no place like home.
Dowling Catholic punter Matthew Haack confirmed that this week by committing to play football at Arizona State next season.
“It’s always been a dream school of mine to go to,” Haack said.
Haack, who averaged 37.6 yards per punt last season, was born in Arizona and later moved to Iowa wit his family.
Haack, who only lived in Arizona for a year, has made trips just about every year for spring break. He said he still has family there.
“I pretty much on the phone all day yesterday with family and stuff,” Haack said. “They’re pretty excited.”
Haack, who also played wide receiver for the Maroons, caught 24 passes for 410 yards four touchdowns.
Haack said he also received an offer from Iowa State.
“I think it’s a great opportunity,” he said about Arizona State. “It’s kind of always been something that I’ve wanted to do.”
