The East defeated the West 4-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-19, 25-9) in the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association’s all-star volleyball game held Saturday at Centennial. The coaches agreed on a four out of seven match.
Blackman coach Rhonda Ross coached the East team. Former Independence coach Kathy Slaughter, a former Siegel coach, led the West team.
The East team roster include three Rutherford County players. Riverdale graduate and MTSU signee Chelsea Ross, Blackman graduate Kaitlyn Austin and Siegel graduate Caroline Gay played on the East team.
The East fell behind 12-4 in Game 1, but came back to win 25-21.
TACA members must nominate the players who are selected for the game. All players reported to Centennial on Friday for a three-hour practice then came back after dinner for a two-hour practice.
The East roster included Soddy-Daisy’s Rachel Shaughnessy and Sarah Davis, Farragut’s Kayla Hartman and Julia Alves, Sullivan South’s Heather Harvey, Sales Creek’s Chelsi Roark, Red Bank’s Danielle Moore, Hixson’s Katie Ware, East Ridge’s Daisha Jackson and GPS’ Tory Kemp.
MTSU signee Brianna McCombs, an Independence graduate, and Independence teammates Kennedie Lariscy and Keaton Thompson all were chosen for the West team. Ravenwood’s Jazzy Oats, TCA’s Kara Chenshaw, Page’s Molly Locke, Covington’s Allie Moss, St. Benedict’s Kristina Headrick, Goodpasture’s Megan Randolph and Dyersburg’s Rachel Gauldin also were on the West roster.
