Thanks to a big offensive night out of Christian Elliott, the Lakeview boys’ soccer team picked up an important SMAC East Division victory in overtime on Tuesday.
The host Spartans edged Sturgis 3-2 behind three goals from Elliott, including the game winner in overtime.
Lakeview (5-1-1, 3-1 SMAC) also received an assist from Jaden Sebring, while Jake Herbers made 12 saves in goal.

Bellevue 2, Barry Co. Christian 1 (SO): Bellevue goalkeeper Josh O’Dell made the game-winning save in the shootout to lift the Broncos to their first victory of the season.
Offensively for Bellevue (1-4), Frank Henderson scored the clinching goal in the shootout to set up O’Dell’s save. Jakob Hall scored in regulation on an assist from Alexis Hart.
(At) Gull Lake 6, Harper Creek 4: Harper Creek’s Alec Fisher had two goals and two assists in the loss. Also for the Beavers (4-5), Tyler Bassler had two goals while Jeffery Mann made seven saves in goal.
(At) Coldwater 1, Marshall 0: Coldwater’s Saleh Mousa scored on an assist from Nooh Aljabaly. Ian Wright made three saves in goal for the Cardinals (5-2, 3-1 SMAC).
Quincy 3, Comstock 1: Quincy’s Igor Batista, Nick Haberl and Ashton Diotte each scored in the win. Also for the Orioles (5-1-2), Dakota Finley made two saves in goal.
Pennfield 3, (At) Galesburg-Augusta 2 (Mon.): Pennfield’s Brayden Bennett scored two goals, while teammate Andrew Eddy had a goal and an assist in the win. Darian Brown made nine saves in goal for the Panthers (3-2, 2-0 KVA).
G-A’s Derrick DeGraaf and Austin Pierce had a goal and an assist apiece.
(At) Athens 3, Reading 0: Athens won by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-6.
Athens (15-7-3) was led by Chantel Davenport with 15 kills, three aces, nine digs and one block. Also for the Indians, Teasha Swank had six kills, three aces, nine digs and two blocks; Valerie Rubley had 26 assists, six digs and two kills; Audrey Oswalt had seven kills, two aces and three digs; Indya Stevens had four aces.
