The Cleveland Heights High School Tigers were looking to extend their undefeated streak this season to seven games. However, the Euclid High School Panthers had something else in mind. The Panthers began attacking in the first-quarter as an interception by Linebacker Daylon Craven, led to a Panther’s possession. A few plays later, Tailback Melvin King bulldozed his way into the end- zone, scoring Euclid’s first touchdown.
With the Tigers unable to respond, Quarterback Rhyshon Johnson created an almost identical play that sent Tailback Juwan Ford, charging through the Tiger’s defense and giving the Panthers a comfortable 13-0 lead. After another touchdown late in the second-quarter, the Panthers led the Tigers, 20-0 at Halftime.
It seemed as if the Tigers would claw their way back into the game as within the first minute of the third-quarter, Wide Receiver Shelton Gibson, placed the Tigers on the board, 20-6.
The short-lived rally from the Tigers didn’t last long as Quarterback Rhyshon Johnson took matters into his own hands to blaze through the defense to score. Wide Receiver Joe Farley followed shortly with another Euclid touchdown to place the Panthers on top, 34-6. The Panthers would go on to win, 34-12, giving the “Tiger Nation” their first loss of the 2012 season.
