Nichole Tolli scored the tying goal with two minutes remaining, lifting the Arlington High School field hockey team to a 3-3 tie with Yorktown in Freedom Plains on Wednesday.
Allison Hopper scored to give Arlington an early 1-0 lead, but Yorktown responded with goals from Jackie Simpson, Kara Starkey and Isabelle Perry to open a 3-1 lead in the second half.
Alexis Holzmann scored off an assist from Tolli with 9:30 left to close Arlington’s deficit to 3-2.
“We came out really strong,” Arlington coach Stephanie Tito said. “We lost some of our momentum. In the last 10 minutes, the girls stepped up the intensity and kept control of the ball. They didn’t give Yorktown any chances.”
Tito credited Lauren Delia and Melissa Barrera with strong matches for the Admirals.
Arlington (7-0-3) will host Our Lady of Lourdes today at 4 p.m.
“They’re a great group of girls and have really worked hard to get to this point,” Tito said. “Even though they were down 3-1, they kept working, trying and came back for the tie.”
