Lynn Fleming will coach a game in the Upstate Friday night for the first time in a while.
Fleming is the first-year coach at Chesnee High School, which opens its season on the road against his alma mater, Broome.
Fleming spent the last four seasons at South Florence, where he led the Bruins to a record of 25-24. He coached at West-Oak for four years before heading to South Florence.
Chesnee has four returning starters on offense and six on defense, including five who made all-region: senior wide receiver-defensive back Markell Hill, senior lineman Jake Sperling, senior linebacker-running back Jared Fowler, junior quarterback Darius Proctor and junior offensive lineman-linebacker Tristin Swofford.
The Eagles also have a pair of returning all-region specialists in senior kicker Panayoitis Kargiatlis and sophomore punter Bobby Foos.
Chesnee went 4-8 last season, the last of six under Brent Bridges, and advanced to the second round of the Class AA Division II playoffs.
